ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Probation Data Analyst assists in the developing, processing, maintenance, and presentation of statistical data maintained by the Probation Services Division. Work involves quality control, compiling, analyzing, and disseminating monthly and annual statistical reports. Work is performed under the supervision of the Data Manager and is reviewed through meetings and reports.

FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Enters, organizes, and maintains statistical data records in multiple databases, applying prescribed directions and statistical definitions to create charts and tables for analyses.
  • Monitors compliance with annual reporting requirements.
  • Performs quality control and reviews statistical reports for accuracy.
  • Communicates with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepares annual and trend reports used by the Probation Division and Administrative Office policy makers.
  • Creates forms and documents used in the submission of statistical data.
  • Prepares correspondence, lists, and reports for dissemination.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of data variables and dictionaries.
  • Verifies user authorization and maintains user website access requirements.
  • Keeps abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Assists with maintaining and expanding the probation website.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three or more years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Exercise initiative and work independently to complete assignments.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to perform a variety of functions and projects simultaneously and meet multiple required deadlines and schedules.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in data analytics software (e.g., SPSS, R, Nvivo, ArcGIG), Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Google products (i.e., Sites, Sheets, Docs)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Programming skills (HTML, JAVA, JSON, Python) are highly desired, though not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time. The successful candidate will be adept at functioning within an office environment requiring extensive use of a personal computer, telephone, facsimile, copier, scanner, and other office technologies.
