    Minimum salary $50,560; salary at hire to be commensurate with experience

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides information to attorneys, law clerks, and judges regarding Supreme Court policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the preparation of the semiannual law class for admission to the bar in the five judicial districts
  • Organizes the distribution and collection of Illinois attorney oaths
  • Collects law license fees
  • Prepares law licenses to those who have been admitted to the Illinois bar
  • Prepares and issues certificates of admission to attorneys as requested
  • Drafts correspondence and memoranda consistent with Supreme Court rules
  • Communicates with justices' secretaries and law clerks
  • Prepares draft orders for judicial appointments and assignments
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities is required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Individual must be dedicated, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills. Applicants should possess the ability to work independently and exercise discretion in carrying out assigned duties. Applicants should be able to read and comprehend legal documents; interact diplomatically with a diverse group of people; empathize with court users; adjust to unexpected events while meeting deadlines; and provide procedural information without giving legal advice. Applicants should have experience with editing and proofreading as well as handling interruptions and working independently. Must possess excellent written/verbal communication, comprehension and organizational skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

A minimum of three years of work experience in an office environment, preferably a legal setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. An associate’s degree in a related field is preferred.
