ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The Courts, Children and Families Training Specialist develops and manages continuing legal education curriculum and course design, planning, and delivery for Illinois judges, attorneys, and other court stakeholders on child welfare, domestic violence, and other family court issues. The Courts, Children and Families Training Specialist performs professional, advanced-level statewide subject matter expertise on best practices, curriculum design and training for the Illinois Court Improvement Program (CIP) and various judicial and justice partner Committees related to the work of the Courts, Children and Families Division.

FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Develops curriculum and courses applying best practices for presentation and delivery of e-learning and in-person courses related to the courts, child welfare, domestic violence, human trafficking, juvenile justice, and other Court Improvement Program (CIP) related initiatives.
  • Works closely with the Illinois Court Improvement Program (CIP), judges, attorneys, and justice partners, in the development and delivery of continuing judicial education courses and programs.
  • Assists with the development of on-demand courses.
  • Conducts ongoing training needs assessments and evaluation of continuing education programs.
  • Provides staff support for applicable judicial, attorney and justice partners committees.
  • Identifies subject matter experts and resources to support curriculum and courses.
  • Researches and develops judicial branch grant applications to support training curriculum.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in social sciences, social work, public administration, criminal justice or related field is required. A minimum of three years of experience with adult education with an emphasis on issues related to children and families or related field is preferred.

The ideal candidate should have experience in learning, critical thought, teamwork, possess outstanding organizational, project management, oral and written communication skills, and knowledge of adult learning principles. Candidates who have a demonstrated working knowledge of the development and management of webinars, webcasts, podcasts, are preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time. This is a professional office working environment, with hybrid work options, requiring telephone usage and the ability to process written documents. Applicant must have the ability to travel and possess a valid Illinois driver's license and demonstrate proof of automobile insurance to operate a personal vehicle on state business, as well as maintain a safe driving record. Occasional overnight travel is required.
