Starting at $64,980 per year or commensurate with experience.
SUMMARY: The Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts' (AOIC) Judicial Management Information Services Division (JMIS) is seeking a Computer A/V Engineer to provide computer hardware, software, and audio / visual technical support to judges, court officials and court employees. The position will be based out of Springfield, IL, but will require frequent travel throughout the state, including to the Springfield AOIC office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The Computer A/V Engineer position is responsible for a wide range of technologies and functions including supporting laptops, desktops, mobile devices, software, printers, and other accessories. The position requires experience and understanding of audio/video components and software. This position requires excellent communication skills, strong analytical skills, the ability to solve complex issues, prioritize multiple projects, and the ability to adapt to dynamic work assignments. Frequent in-person and telephone contact with employees is required. Duties vary day-to-day and may involve structured problem diagnosis and resolution, timely completion of tasks and procedures, ability to follow detailed instructions, working with other JMIS staff on technology projects throughout the state.
FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Highly experienced with desktop and laptop computers, internal computer components, printers, and other accessories.
- Knowledge and experience with Windows 10 operating systems and installation and configuration of computer software systems. Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other video conferencing systems on multiple devices.
- Detail oriented and disciplined in problem diagnostics and problem resolution, which minimizes user downtime.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, project and time management skills.
- Hands-on experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 suite, including proficiency with Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel.
- Knowledge and experience with mobile devices and integrating apps with computer software.
- The ability to produce and modify technical documentation.
- This position be out of the Springfield AOIC office and require travel to courthouses and judicial offices throughout the state (vehicle available).
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. The successful candidate must possess strong oral and written communication skills and excellent project and time management skills, be detail-oriented and self-motivated with the ability to prioritize daily tasks, possess the ability to accurately record assets and licensing information, and consistently follow procedures and ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner. The ability to work alone, with colleagues, and with third-party service providers is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is generally performed in a professional office working environment. This position requires the ability to lift and move servers, storage systems, computers, monitors, and computer accessories. Applicant must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license and demonstrate proof of automobile insurance to operate a personal vehicle on state business, as well as maintain a safe driving record. Applicant must have the ability to work additional hours and travel, including overnight stays, as required.
