The Illinois Supreme Court has approved an updated Extended Media Coverage Policy for the Circuit Courts (EMC Policy). This policy is effective Jan. 1, 2026, and replaces the previous policy approved in 2016. The Supreme Court has also approved a new Policy for Extended Media Coverage Appellate Court Policy

All Circuits and Counties are approved effective Jan. 1, 2026, to permit extended media coverage in accordance with the Courts Policy for Extended Media Coverage in the Circuit Courts of Illinois.
