The Reporter of Decisions office has created a help site as a companion resource to the Style Manual for the Supreme and Appellate Courts of Illinois for chambers staff drafting opinions. The website provides expanded examples on various matters the Style Manual covers in brief, clarification of certain style rules and how the Reporter’s office interprets them, and an overview of the publication process that touches on how it interfaces with appellate jurisdiction. The website also contains resources for making Microsoft Word behave better, getting better citations out of Westlaw, and other helpful illustrated guides. As the Reporter’s office prepares to propose revisions to the Style Manual, there will also be resources enabling you to weigh in on future matters of style.
