Illinois judges receive recognition and awards

Illinois judges are increasingly being recognized for their dedicated work in courtrooms throughout the state. Here are some of the recent honors received by Illinois judges:

  • Cook County Circuit Court Judge Celia G. Gamrath will be honored on December 8, 2023, by the Illinois Bar Foundation (IBF) as the recipient of the 2023 Distinguished Service to Law & Society Award. This award is in recognition of her significant contributions to the legal community and her dedicated service to the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) and IBF, and it will take be awarded at the ISBA Midyear Meeting in Chicago at the IBF’s annual Champions Breakfast.
  • Justice Joy V. Cunningham received the Judge of the Year Award on November 28 from the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). ABOTA is comprised of an equal number of plaintiff and defense attorneys who share the common goal of preserving the right to trial by jury afforded by the Seventh Amendment to the United States Constitution.
