Third District Appellate Court holds oral arguments at Grundy County Courthouse in Morris | State of Illinois Office of the Illinois Courts Third District Appellate Court holds oral arguments at Grundy County Courthouse in Morris 7/29/2025 The Third District Appellate Court held its “Riding the Circuit” traveling oral arguments at the Grundy County Courthouse in Morris on Wednesday, July 16. The arguments were held in the ceremonial courtroom on the second floor of the courthouse and were livestreamed on the Third District Appellate Court YouTube page.The Court heard appeals in two civil cases and two criminal cases.The Illinois Supreme Court began the Riding the Circuit program in 2008 to visit other locations in Illinois to raise awareness of the judicial branch and of the important role the court system has in interpreting state laws. This outreach into various communications has been a tremendous success with students and members of the public gaining a better understanding of state civics.The five appellate courts have joined this program to show how courts function at the intermediate level.Photos from the event are available here.
