Illinois Judges Receive Recognition and Awards

April 26, 2021

Illinois judges are increasingly being recognized for their dedicated work in courtrooms throughout the state. Here are some of the recent honors received by Illinois judges:

  • Cook County Circuit Judge Charles P. Burns was honored on February 24, 2021, by the Chicago Inn of Court as the recipient of the Don Hubert Public Service Award for his work with the Cook County Drug Court Program.
  • Five Cook County Circuit Judges will be honored on April 28, 2021, at the Vanguard Awards. Local Bar Associations present this award luncheon to honors the individuals and institutions who have made the law and legal profession more accessible to and reflective of the community at large. Judge Tommy Brewer will be honored by the Chicago Bar Association, former Cook County Circuit Judge Gloria Chevere will be honored by the Puerto Rican Bar Association, Judge Michael J. Chmiel will be honored by the Advocates Society, Judge Megan Goldish will be honored by the Decalogue Society of Lawyers, and Judge Sophia H. Hall will be honored by LAGBAC, Chicago’s LGBTQ+ Bar Association.

                                                                                      

  • Former Illinois Supreme Court Justice Thomas L. Kilbride will have a new public service award named in his honor by the Chicago Bar Foundation: The Thomas L. Kilbride Public Service Award. The new award will honor unsung attorneys and judges, and the inaugural Award will be presented on July 16, 2021 at the CBA and CBF’s Pro Bono and Public Service Awards Luncheon.
