Illinois Supreme Court Hosts Remote Bar Admission Ceremony for 271 New Admittees

The Illinois Supreme Court hosted a virtual bar admission ceremony for 271 new attorneys on Thursday, May 13. Chief Justice Anne M. Burke presided from Springfield. Justice Rita B. Garman made the motion to admit the class. Justice P. Scott Neville, Jr. and Justice Michael J. Burke seconded the motion.

All of the candidates sworn in passed the Illinois State Bar Examination and a required ethics examination and were certified by the Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness.

"The Supreme Court would like to congratulate the new admittees on passing the bar exam," Chief Justice Burke said. "You have persevered through trying times and we wish you the best of luck in the profession."

The number of admittees for each district is:

  • First District: 202
  • Second District: 44
  • Third District: 8
  • Fourth District: 8
  • Fifth District: 9
