Oran F. Whiting appointed to Cook County vacancy

The Illinois Supreme Court has appointed Oran F. Whiting to a Cook County vacancy that will be created by the retirement of Circuit Judge Litricia P. Payne. The appointment is effective August 7, 2017 and goes through December 3, 2018.”

Whiting is currently the principal at Oran F. Whiting Law, which he has operated since 2008. He has been a partner at firms including Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., Gonzakt, Saggio & Harlan, LLP, Holland & Knight, Freeborn & Peters, and Peterson & Ross. In addition to his law firm work, Whiting has served as counsel to the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives and as commissioner of the Illinois Court of Claims from 1998 to 2006.

Whiting is a member of the American Bar Association, where he serves as editor of the group's magazine Litigation News. He is also a member of the Ilinois State Bar Association, the Cook County Bar Association, and the Chicago Bar Association among others. Whiting has served as a member of the Oversite Committee of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission since 2016. He earned his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science from the University of Pennsylvania and his juris doctor from Georgetown University Law School.
