Kane County Chief Judge Clint Hull announced the appointment of Judge Christine Downs to the Committee on Professional Responsibility.
The Committee on Professional Responsibility was formed by the Supreme Court of Illinois in 1978, with the aim to provide recommendations to the Court related to specific standards of conduct and disciplinary rules to govern all practicing Illinois attorneys.
Since the Committee’s initial report in December of that year, and with the Code of Professional Responsibility being put into effect July 1, 1980 (now the Rules of Professional Conduct), the Committee has been responsible for reviewing requests for amendments and additions, and making recommendations to the Court on those requests.  The Committee is made up of Illinois judges and attorneys dedicated to maintaining the integrity and competence of the legal profession in the state.

“I am honored and humbled to have been appointed to the Committee for Professional Responsibility by the Illinois Supreme Court,” Downs said. “I am looking forward to working with the other members of the bench and bar who help ensure the Rules of Professional Conduct evolve and improve for the good of the legal profession and our justice system.”
