The Illinois Judicial Conference (IJC) is accepting applications for two upcoming vacancies:
- An attorney licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois (S. Ct. Rule 41(b)(1)(L)) and
- A clerk of court (S. Ct. Rule 41(b)(1)(J)) (this position may be filled by either a circuit or reviewing court clerk).
About the IJC
The IJC is charged with considering the work of the courts, suggesting improvements in the administration of justice, and strategic planning for the Illinois Judicial Branch. The 2026-2028 Judicial Branch Strategic Agenda is available here.
IJC membership is governed by Supreme Court Rule 41. The 29-member body includes 15 judicial members and 14 non-judicial members, and the Chief Justice of the Illinois Supreme Court serves as chair.
Expectations of IJC Members
IJC members are expected to attend two in-person meetings each year, participate in periodic Zoom meetings as needed, and actively contribute to at least one IJC task force that meets throughout the year.
Appointments will be effective January 1, 2027. IJC members serve three-year terms and may serve up to two consecutive three-year terms.
