8/26/2024

Justice Lisa Holder White and the Illinois Supreme Court have announced that Gregory Michael Minger has been appointed as a Resident Circuit Judge for Woodford County in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit.

Mr. Minger is being appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Charles M. Feeney III. Mr. Minger’s appointment is effective September 20, 2024, and will expire on Dec. 7, 2026.

“After being born and raised in Woodford County, Mr. Minger eventually made the decision to return to serve the citizens of Woodford County,” Justice Holder White said. “I am confident he will continue that service with integrity and dedication as he takes on this new role.”

Mr. Minger has been Woodford County State’s Attorney since 2011, serving as the top prosecutor in the county and winning re-election on three occasions. He previously worked in the Winnebago County State's Attorney’s Office as an Assistant State’s Attorney for nine years.

“I am humbled and grateful for the trust placed in me for such an important position. I thank Justice Lisa Holder White for her choice and belief in me for Resident Circuit Judge of Woodford County, as well as the unanimous decision of the Illinois Supreme Court. I am so thankful for the diligent work of the selection committee as well—a lot of time and background checks were made on four very qualified candidates,” Mr. Minger said. “My family and I are so excited about this new endeavor. I am anxious to begin serving the citizens of Woodford County and the surrounding areas by using all I have learned, and will continue to learn, in this new role of Circuit Judge.”

Mr. Minger earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and earned his Juris Doctor from Northern Illinois University College of Law.

His professional affiliations include the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois State’s Attorney’s Association, the Winnebago County Bar Association, and the Illinois Prosecutor’s Bar Association.

The Eleventh Judicial Circuit includes Ford, Livingston, Logan, McLean, and Woodford Counties.
