Justice Mary K. O’Brien and the Supreme Court of Illinois have announced the appointment of the Hon. Roger Rickmon as an At-Large Circuit Judge in the Twelfth Judicial Circuit.
Judge Rickmon is being appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Susan O’Leary. The appointment takes effect on August 21, 2023, and will conclude December 2, 2024, following the November 2024 general election.
“Associate Judge Roger Rickmon, a distinguished veteran and a respected jurist, has done an outstanding job serving the residents of Will County,” Justice O’Brien said. “His decades of legal experience as both a Will County practitioner and judge will continue to be a great benefit to his colleagues on the bench and the legal community as a whole.”
Judge Rickmon has served on the bench as an Associate Judge in Will County since 2010 and has served as Presiding Judge of the Civil Division since 2021. Prior to joining the bench Judge Rickmon had a 30-year career in law as an associate and later Partner at Murphy, Timm, Lennon, Spesia & Ayers, as a Partner at Herschbach, Tracy, Johnson and Wilson, and as a solo practitioner at Rickmon Law Firm, LLC.
Judge Rickmon earned his Bachelor of Arts from Lewis University and earned his Juris Doctor from the John Marshall Law School. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1970 until his honorable discharge as a Sergeant in 1974, having been awarded eight Air Medals and a Vietnam Service Medal.
His affiliations include the Will County Bar Association, where he is a past President, the Illinois Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Illinois Judges Association.
The Twelfth Judicial Circuit is located in Will County.
