On July 14, 2022, Judge Eugene G. Doherty was sworn-in as a Justice of the Fourth District Appellate Court.
Justice Lisa Holder White hosted the proceedings via Zoom. Justice Doherty’s sister, retired Judge Frances Doherty, offered remarks and spoke about the large family they grew up in and her brother’s character and personality.
Justice Holder White administered the oath to Justice Doherty, who is recovering from a case of COVID-19. In his remarks Justice Doherty described his experience as a baseball umpire decades earlier and the similarities between being an umpire and being a judge. He thanked his fellow judges, his children, and his wife, Rose.
