Appellate Judge John C. Griffin
First District, 1st Division
John C. Griffin received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree With Honors, from the University of Notre Dame in 1973 and in 1976 received his Juris Doctor degree, Cum Laude, from DePaul University College of Law.
John Griffin was in the private practice of law for 31 years. In March 2008, he was appointed to the Circuit Court of Cook County. Judge Griffin served five months in the First Municipal District and three years in the Mortgage Foreclosure/Mechanic's Lien Section of the Chancery Division. In 2011 he was transferred to the Commercial Calendar Section of the Law Division. From 2013 to 2018 he served as the supervising judge of the Commercial Calendar Section. In May 2018, Judge Griffin was appointed to the Illinois Appellate Court, First District.
Judge Griffin serves on various Supreme Court Committees, including the Committee on Judicial Education, Judicial Conference of Illinois and the Executive Committee of the Illinois Judicial Conference.
