ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The Training Manager facilitates, manages, and coordinates all phases of continuing legal education curriculum and course design, planning, and delivery for the benefit of the Illinois judiciary. The Training Manager works closely with the Assistant Director of the Judicial Education Division (“Division”), Division/AOIC staff, judicial Committees/Workgroups, judges, subject matter experts and other Judicial Branch stakeholders.
- Works closely with judges, subject matter experts, and judicial branch stakeholders in the development and delivery of continuing judicial education courses and programs;
- Supports faculty in application of best practices for presentation and delivery of e-learning and in-person courses;
- Conducts ongoing needs assessments and evaluation of continuing education programs
- Manages judicial Committee/Workgroup meetings, including identification and coordination of Committee/Workgroup tasks/activities
- Collaborates with Division staff on the identification and management of event sites, meeting set-up, and technology needs;
- Identifies subject matter experts and resources to support curriculum and courses;
- Drafts general and legal correspondence and reports;
- Trains judicial and non-judicial faculty on the use of hardware and software used to facilitate the delivery of online and face-to-face courses; and,
- Facilitates the editing and publication of legal resources, including judicial benchbooks.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in a legal or adult education role or environment are required. Candidates with a J.D. from an ABA accredited law school, in addition to other minimum requirements are strongly preferred.
The successful candidate must enjoy teaching and learning, critical thought, teamwork, possess outstanding organizational, project management, oral and written communication skills, and a demonstrated working knowledge of technologies and legal research products necessary to facilitate the development and delivery of course content, including, but not limited to the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google collaboration and productivity applications (Google Drive, Docs, Forms, Sites, etc.). Candidates who have a demonstrated working knowledge of Articulate 360, Storyline, audience response software, the development and management of Webinars, Webcasts, podcasts, use of Learning Management Systems are preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability and license necessary to lawfully drive State of Illinois vehicles at the time of employment or within 30 days of employment and throughout. Ability to sit and stand for extended time periods. Ability to bend, lift, carry and transport office equipment, books, binders and other materials, and move/rearrange lightweight furniture (chairs, tables) on- and off-site. The work environment requires extensive use of a computer, telephone copier, printer, scanner, video/teleconference equipment, Learning Management System (LMS) and other technologies and software as noted above. Ability to set-up meeting/training environment, and manage meeting facilities, technologies and software, presenters and participants, required. Applicant must have the ability to work additional hours beyond the posted hours, as needed and anticipated, including travel during the week or weekends, by car or public transportation, early morning and late evening, with overnight stays.
