Paul Farthing

Previous Illinois Supreme Court Justice

Paul Farthing was born April 12, 1887 in Odin, Illinois. He was the son of William D. Farthing and Sarah B. Farthing. He received his education in the public schools, the State School for the Blind at Jacksonville, McKendree College, Lebanon, and the law school of the University of Illinois. He served as master in chancery of the City Court of East St. Louis from 1924 to 1930 and as county judge of St. Clair County from 1930 to 1933, when he was elected judge of the Supreme Court. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of East St. Louis, the Optimist Club of Belleville, and a Director of the Equity Savings Association of East St. Louis. Justice Farthing died on December 2, 1976.
