Guy C. Scott

Previous Illinois Supreme Court Justice


Guy C. Scott was born on August 14, 1863 in Bald Bluff, Henderson County, Illinois. He was educated at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, and studied law in the offices of Bassett and Wharton in Aledo. He served as Mayor of Aledo, and Deputy County Clerk and County Clerk of Mercer County. On June 6, 1903 he became a member of the Illinois Supreme Court, where he remained until his death in May, 1909. During his tenure on the high court, he served once as chief justice in 1906. He was a Master Mason, a member of the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows, and in 1892 he was an Illinois delegate for the Democratic National Convention. Justice Scott died in Galesburg, Illinois on May 24, 1909.
