Carroll C. Boggs

Previous Illinois Supreme Court Justice


Carroll C. Boggs was born on October 19, 1844, in Fairfield, Illinois. He was educated at McKendree College, where he received his B.A. He served as Wayne County State’s Attorney from 1873 - 1877, Wayne County Judge from 1877 - 1885, Circuit Court Judge for the 2nd judicial circuit from 1885 - 1891, and Appellate Court Judge in the 3rd district from 1891 - 1897. He began his service on the Illinois Supreme Court on June 7, 1897, where he remained until June 1906, and he served at the Chief Justice from June 1900 - June 1901. Judge Boggs died on December 16, 1923, in Fairfield, Illinois.
